Pirtin Perinnepuisto Tradition Park

This beautiful park is located next to the Rantatori market square by lake Puulavesi. The park exhibits close to two hundred traditional Finnish garden and park plants, all labelled. All the plants are donations from different parts of Kangasniemi and they all represent strains cultivated locally for centuries. The plants include medicinal and decorative ones as well as herbs. Its extensive array of traditional garden plants makes Pirtinpuisto park important also nationally. 

The park is also adorned by a small bandstand, sculptures by Juhani Saksa, a fountain and a monument to men going to war.

The park was established by a local gardening society in co-operation with local authorities.
